We’re Committed to Serving the LGBTQ+ Community

Living with a chronic illness is difficult. At Pure Healthcare, our mission is to provide the comprehensive services required to assure quality of life and enable patients to thrive and live independently longer.

We’re committed to providing inclusive palliative care to the LGBTQ+ community. Everyone in our community should feel welcome, heard and supported, whether you are a patient, family member or staff member.

Our staff live and work in the communities we serve. The patients and families we serve are our friends, neighbors and teammates. We each come from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs, making up a diverse group of people who represent our communities. We’re committed to making each day matter.TM

SAGECare – Serving LGBTQ+ Older Adults

SAGECare provides training and consulting on LGBTQ+ aging issues. As a division of SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders), SAGECare is part of the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older adults.

Staff Training

At Pure Healthcare, each staff member completes annual SAGECare LGBTQ+ training, which covers the basics of what LGBTQ+ means, includes stories of actual LGBTQ+ older adults and how their lives have intersected with changes in how society thinks about and treats the LGBTQ+ community, and educates our staff on the nuances of care for the LGBTQ+ community. This training helps our staff understand those differences and communicate carefully with respect to each patient’s situation.

In addition, our Leadership team has completed four-hour in-person training, which is designed to help leaders create communities that are genuinely inclusive and build on the diversity and strength of both the staff and the care recipients. We are proud to offer these learning opportunities to our staff to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Going Above and Beyond With Platinum SAGECare Certification

Because of the training and its commitment to creating a more welcoming community to LGBTQ+ adults, we are now credentialed with Platinum SAGECare certification. To earn this certification 80% of staff and leadership must have completed a specific training process. At Pure Healthcare, 100% of staff complete this training.

Pure Healthcare Celebrates Pride Month Annually in June

Each year, during the month of June, the LGBTQ+ community celebrates Pride Month in a variety of ways. The month recognizes and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and helps to raise awareness of current issues and needs facing members of the community.

At Pure Healthcare, we’re honored and privileged to serve the LGBTQ+ community with palliative care. During Pride Month, we take time to recognize and express our appreciation for the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to our nation.

We are committed to LGBTQ+ inclusive palliative care. We are committed to making each day matter for our patients and families, including those in the LGBTQ+ community.
