Medical Professionals Attend Tending the Flame Workshop at Pure Healthcare

RISHI at Pure Healthcare held its Tending the FlameTM Training Workshop for clinicians and graduate program learners April 29 – May 1 at Pure Healthcare in Dayton, Ohio. Attendees were from hospitals and residency programs throughout the nation.

Participants represented institutions such as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California; Cincinnati Children’s in Cincinnati, Ohio; Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois; the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois; Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.

This was the first time RISHI held a training workshop at Pure Healthcare. The RISHI teaching staff had the privilege of training physicians, chaplains, and, for the first time, a licensed mental health therapist during the workshop.

“The mental health therapist hopes to bring RISHI’s Tending the Flame program to their state Mental Health Therapist Association,” said Dr. Evangeline Andarsio, director of RISHI at Pure Healthcare. “Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen, the founder of RISHI, was able to join us via videoconference to share her wisdom and stories surrounding meaning, medicine, resiliency, and calling.”
